A chord chart consists of six vertical lines representing the guitar’s six strings and several horizontal lines representing the frets. Each intersection of a vertical and horizontal line represents a particular fret on a particular string where a note can be played. For beginners it’s important to understand the fretboard of the guitar first and and to know how to number and name the guitar strings.
How to use blank Guitar Chord Charts
For beginners who are just starting to learn the basics of guitar chords, it’s a good idea to have only one chord diagram on a page. Have your student first name or number the guitar strings. Then they should be able to number the frets and know the orientation of the guitar head and body. Another good exercise is to ask them where to find the lowest and highest notes on the guitar diagram.
You can use a blank guitar chord diagram to visualize a chord or a single note of a series of notes. Most teachers like to use this to teach guitar chords. It’s a good exercise to get the chord shape down on paper first. It will then be much easier to find the shape on the guitar itself.
If you are teaching or learning a song or chord progression, you should have several blank guitar chord charts on a page. Let’s say you find a nice chord progression on the guitar. Then it’s perfect to write that progression on such a template.
